Occasions Catalog Launch Party, project #3 - Gold Metallic Love card-AND PRIZES!!!

The winners from this morning's drawing are at the bottom of this post!

I made this sparkly card for my Occasions catalog swap and I LOVE IT! I actually made the New Year's card (see previous post) and then realized that I was supposed to use Occasions catalog stamps rather than the annual catalog stamp used on the New Year's card. So, redo and voila! A Valentine's card! Ok, seriously, this watercolor wonder washi tape rocks! Wonder how I made it black and gold?  Read on to see!!! Even a man would enjoy this card for Valentine's, it's not very girly for Valentine's at least!

Gold embossed "Love" card, 2014 Occasions catalog swap

Stampin' Up supplies used:
stamp: Love You to the Moon
ink: versamark pad
paper: basic black (5 1/2" x 4 1/4"), gold fancy foil designer vellum (4" x 5 1/4"), whisper white (3 3/4" x 5"), gold foil sheet, whisper white and basic black scraps to punch out hearts and banners
BigShot: banners framelits die (second smallest one)
ribbon: gold sequin trim (for sequins)
punches: small heart punch (annual catalog)
other: watercolor wonder designer washi tape, epic day this and that designer washi tape (annual catalog), gold embossing powder
adhesives: glue dots, snail adhesive, stampin' dimensionals

Directions:
Cut base and layers as above.  Adhere washi tape diagonally to the card in strips, folding over the back. To make black and gold washi tape, adhere gold solid washi tape first, then layer with epic day this and that black/white washi tape.  To make polka dotted heart, adhere polka dotted washi tape onto a whisper white scrap and punch with small heart punch  Adhere tape to the vellum (careful to put tape around 1 inch in since the vellum is transparent.  Punch hearts from gold foil and black card stock and then one from your washi taped whisper white scrap.  Stamp "love" onto whisper white scrap with versamark pad and sprinkle gold embossing powder on and heat emboss with the Stampin' Up embossing tool.  And YES, their embossing heat tool is far superior to any I have ever used. Just sayin'!  Cut gold foil and "love" with banner framelit. Adhere gold directly to card with snail adhesive and then adhere white "love" piece with dimensionals offset from the gold banner.  Adhere hearts with glue dots and then adhere sequins to them with glue dots (from gold sequin trim).

  1. Love the colors! Until I read the instructions I didn't realize that you used washi tape! I was trying to figure out which DSP you were using. Guess I need to start using my washi tape more.
