The one week my daugher, Hope Cogbill was in the hospital was literally, the longest and some of the worst days of my life. And I had a nice cozy home to come home to. The Ronald McDonald House is home to families of children who are hospitalized and receving treatments. Creating Success Training Group Swap

Oh, you won't believe the gorgeous swaps I received from my Creating Success Training Group with Ronda Wade! I participated in 3 groups and here was my first entry. I was inspired by Julie Davison and her washi creation using the Playful Palette Suite of products. 

My flamingo card is actually pretty simple. The featured stamp set is the totally hip and popular Pop of Paradise stamp set stamped with Melon Mambo and Basic Black ink. I layered Melon Mambo with Basic Black and Whisper White card stock to make it pop and then lined up washi tape and tucked it under the Whisper White layer making it super simple. No cutting necessary.  I did NOT use a retired punch for the gold foil paper heart. That would be baaaaad! I used a tiny heart framelit from the new Sweet and Sassy hearts framelit collection. Then, to make the tag, I used my FAVORITE punch, the Tag Topper Punch and finished it off with a cute new Melon Mambo thick baker's twine bow!

Blended Bloom Sympathy Card

I made this card weeks ago and I was DYING to show you. These blendabilities markers are a dream! Look at the beautiful shading the 3 shades of markers produces. The color goes on like softened butter on bread. I used the rich razzleberry trio of markers to color this flower using the Blended Bloom set from the new 2014-2015 Stampin' Up annual catalog.  The sentiment is from the hostess set Bloom with Hope.

Stampin' Up supplies used:
stamp sets: Blended Bloom, Bloom With Hope
paper: whisper white card stock, moonlight designer series paper stack
ink: blendabilities markers rich razzleberry trio, color lifter, memento ink pad, blackberry bliss ink pad, so saffron marker
tools: envelope liner framelits die
embellishments: 3/8" stitched satin ribbon blackberry bliss

Dirctions:
Stamp bloom on whisper white card stock with memento ink (this memento ink WILL NOT run when colored with blendabilities).  Start at center with darker color and color in a little bit near the inside edges of the petals. Then use the next lightest color on narrow tip side in a circular motion to pull the darker color out and to blend with the darkest color.  Fill in the remainder with the lightest color, again using circular motion and pulling the next darkest color in and blending as you go.  On the outermost tips of the  petals where it's almost white, I used the lightest color then lifted it out with the color lifter pen. Color inside to flower with  daffodil delight trio. Cut bloom with paper snips.  Cut strip of designer paper to go across card and tie ribbon as shown.  Stamp sentiment with blackberry bliss and adhere bloom to card with stampin' dimensionals.

Thanks to all the soldiers who have served our country!

THANK YOU!!!

I want to take the time to honor our military who serve our country on this very special Memorial Day. I have two favorite people in particular this year and last year who have frankly been to hell and back in their fights with illness and injury. They are only here by the grace of God!  

First is my incredible friend and stampin' sister Lana Dunn. She has fought triple negative breast cancer valiantly and patiently and is finally getting on the other side of this hard, hard, battle. (Praise the LORD!)  She is active duty member of the Army Reserves and has served for more than 19 years in the U.S. Army. Here we are at reception in which she received her award for her fight in the area of health. And here she is being honored with other fabulous ladies at the "Brown Girls Rock" ceremony. So grateful to be blessed by this dear friendship.

 

 

 

The next person I would like to honor is Cpt. Edward Wesley Klein (Eddie/Flip). Flip was commanding B Company, 4-23 INF and while on dismounted patrol was hit by an IED near Kandahar, Afghanistan. The explosion caused extensive damage -- yet... through the heroics of his unit he was on the operating table in Kandahar in 27 minutes from the explosion -- saved his life for sure. He was sweet high school youth in our church youth group when my husband and I were counselors. I was proud to follow his fight since Nov 2012 and am so glad to see pictures like this, he and his amazing wife, Jessica.

 

Thank you to these two and to countless others who have served and who are serving our country.  Remembering you and honoring you this day! God Bless!

If you were having a bad day, would this bright and cheery card with a little gold sparkle and playful washi tape not just give you a skip in your step?  Sometimes just the right card can come at just the right time. Who would you give this to this week. I can think of someone right now! This was a card we made at my card class on this fabulous set "Geometrical". Although my clean and simple cards are usually one layer, the tag is so EASY to make, I deem it clean and simple enough for Saturday.  My favorite thing about this card is the "up" arrows next to the Cheer Up Buttercup sentiment. Do you love it?

 

Stampin' Up supplies used:

stamp sets: geometrical

paper: basic grey and whisper white 8 1/2 x 11" card stock, gold foil 12x12 paper

ink: basic grey classic stampin' pad, Bermuda bay and strawberry slush markers

ribbons: strawberry slush ruffle stretched trim, Bermuda bay 1/8" taffeta ribbon, gold baker's twine

tools: scalloped tag topper punch

other: epic day this and that washi tape

 

Directions:

Cut basic grey base at 4 1/4 x 11" and then fold. Stamp arrows in basic grey (this is called tone on tone).  Cut 2 x 31/4" strip of whisper white paper and punch with scalloped tag topper punch. Color cheer up stamp with markers as show and angle it in the center of the tag (this is where the clear mount stamps really shine!).  Use tiny strip of gold to underline the stamp and trim on edges. Adhere washi tape and also trim flush with edge of tag.  Stamp arrow above the sentiment until it goes off the edge of tag. Loop ribbons through and pull them through the loop and trim. Attach on four corners of tag with stampin' dimensionals.

Is your dad hip to be square or triangle? Geometrical "Father's Day" card

I hope your dad IS hip enough for this geometrical card! I know my dad and hubby are. I LOVE the Kaleidoscope designer paper (don't wait, it's on the retired sale items list) with these bold black and white stripes.  Father's Day is approaching and Stampin' Up is here as always to make the day special with this simple, yet striking card. We made these at my monthly card class and it got rave reviews.

Stampin' Up supplies used:
stamp sets: Geometrical, Delightful Dozen
paper: whisper white, bermuda bay card stock, kaleidoscope designer series paper
ink: basic black, bermuda bay and crushed curry classic stampin' pads
tools: triangle and banner punches
embellishments: basic metal buttons
adhesives: snail adhesive, glue dots

Directions:
Cut Bermuda bay base at 4 1/4 x 11 and fold in half for base.  Cut white strip 3 x 4 1/4. Stamp triangles as shown on whisper white and cut with triangle punch.  FIRST arrange triangles centered just below edge of white strip of paper and adhere with snail adhesive leaving room for the "hooray for today" stamp in black. Adhere white strip leaving a small amount of the base showing on top.  Cut designer paper (black and white) at 4 1/4 x 3/4". Punch banners and adhere to back of designer paper strip. Adhere to base just under white strip leaving room to stamp "happy father's day" in basic black ink.  Adhere button with glue dot

Best.Card.Ever Mother's Day

 

Best.Card.Ever.

 

I'm speechless.  My mom lives in the sane town I do, so I'm blessed that she gets to and wants to come to my card classes. Get a load of this precious card she made for me for Mother's Day! She used her Paper Pumpkin kit from March and April along with the you make me happy stamp cut from a card I probably gave her. Mom was a teacher, so waste not want not, am I right?  Then she added my babies??? I am beyond TOUCHED. She also added her favorite stamp from the Everyday Occasions kit to the back.  (If my mom comes to my class, I had better get this stamp out, she will ask for it!!!)

 

 

This is my favorite card of all time. I am blessed to have my mom in my life. If your mom is passed, I am so sorry. This kind of love us unmatched and I can't imagine life without this piece of my heart. My mom has inspired me to love, teach, be whatever I wanted to be - no limits and you also see where I get my creativity and energy from. She listens to me drone on about my joys and woes and listens and then keeps listening... On this Mother's Day weekend, thank your mom or anyone who is like a mom to you.  Don't text or message-call or make/buy them a card and remind them why you love them.  Please feel free to make this post go viral, my mom would be tickled pink... Love you mom!!!

I was lucky enough to attend the Stampin' Up 2014-2015 Annual Catalogue premiere on Monday in Tulsa, Oklahoma which was simulcast to 7800 Stampin' Up demonstrators in the US. What fun we had! To add to the fun, I won this stamp set in a drawing.  I hope you love these as much as I do. The possibilities of this set are endless.! Also, I LOVE these notecards. They are already cut and scored - leaving you more time to stamp and create. Ink and paper are the only supplies that I used. These are perfect for the beginning stamper or someone who needs a lot of cards in a hurry.  AND they are adorable!!!

Instructions: Gosh, really? Fold the notecards. Stamp as shown. There's really not more to say! The only tricky thing I can say is on the "H", I did color the striped piece with a basic black marker so that the "H" would not be so wide. Mother's Day Envelope Punch Board Card Keeper with Cards!

I wanted to come up with a project to say "thanks" to the mothers that allow their children to participate in my Cr"after" school class every month.With mother's day coming up, I thought this wsa the perfect project.  This would also be perfect for a teacher gift!  This project was easy enough that my 7-9 year old girls made it. (Ok, I cut and scored everything, but still, they put it together for their mothers). Isn't it dreamy?  I LOVE this Designer Series Paper which is part of the Birthday Basics set.  Say goodbye to gumball green, the designer paper, the "Wonderful Mother" from Delightful Dozen (one of my faves) and the in color boutique details buttons. They are retiring and are only available while supplies last.  

 

 

 

Stampin' Up supplies used:
stamp sets: Delightful Dozen, Summer Silhouettes and Gifts of Kindness (sentiments on white cards)

paper: gold foil 12x12, gumball green coredinations 12x12, 8 1/xz x 11": whisper white, rich razzleberry , crisp cantaloupe, birthday basics designer series paper

ink: rich razzleberry and gumball green classic ink pads and markers

tools: scoring tool or scoring blade, banner framelits, floral frames collection framelits, envelope punch board, big shot machine

embellishments: in color designer details

 

Instructions:

Cut whisper white at 5 1/2" on long end and fold for card bases. Stamp as shown. SIMPLE!  The envelope punch board uses a 9 x 9" piece of card stock. The direction on how to do it, I got off Pinterest.  The crisp cantaloupe band is 1 inch x 11 inches. Cut floral pieces with floral frames framelits and layer.  I used tape except for the gold flower which I attached with dimensionals. Lastly, finish it all off with glue dot to attach the button. Then stamp with "wonderful mother" on whisper white scrap and cut with the banner framelit. cut the next larger gold framelit and then layer. Tape the flower to the bellyband and then tape the banner sentiment to the underside of the flower, so it all slides off together.  Slide cards in and slide the band on. Your mom will be so proud!!!

What does the fox say? Stampin' Up, Life in the Forest birthday card, Occasions catalog sneak peek

 

My kids went ape over this card. Kids and adults alike love"What does the fox say?". I couldn't stop saying "ring-ding-a-ring-ding"... in my head as I was making this adorable card.  This is perfect for that hard to find card for your middle schooler and not too girly so that any man would be proud to receive. This Life in the Forest stamp set from Stampin' Up got me thinking and with the word bubble framelits - I just had to do it! And as long as I was gettin' foxy, grass from fringe scissors - yes!  Funny thing is, the next day I looked on Pinterest and saw Dawn Tidd had a similar idea, so this card is also inspired by her. I love how she layered the grass, so I totally cased that part of it and added the word bubble.  There is not a stamp that says "What does the fox say", so I just printed this using My Digital Studio directly onto the soft sky card stock. LOVE MDS!

paper: whisper white, cajun craze, gumball green, soft sky 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock; watercolor wonder designer series paper
ink: basic black classic stampin' pad, stampin' write basic black marker
BigShot: word bubbles framelits die, envelope liner framelit die
accessories: basic rhinestones
tools: Stampin' Up paper snips, fringe scissors
adhesives: two way glue, stampin' dimensionals, snail adhesive
"What does the fox say?" was printed using My Digital Studio

Directions:
Cut whisper white at 4 1/4" and fold longways for base.  In MDS, create 8 1/2" x 11" project and flush left a 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" text box then center the text in the text box. Export and print on soft sky paper and then trim at 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".  Create three layers of gumball green each with the same width as soft sky piece, tearing two and using fringe scissors on one for grass layers.  Stamp fox and mushrooms on cajun craze and whisper white. Trim with scissors. Stamp trees on watercolor wonder chevron paper and also trunks of trees on cajun craze. Trim with scissors. Adhere layers of white onto fox and mushrooms and cajun craze tree trunks with 2 way glue.  Color outside of word bubble stamp with basic black marker from Just Sayin' stamp set.  Then stamp onto whisper white.  Stamp the "happy birthday" sentiment from Says It All inside of word bubble and cut with word bubble framelit in BigShot.  Layer trees in background with 2 way glue onto soft sky layer. Layer farthest back grass, then the other tree, then the fringe grass, then the cutie fox and mushroom and then the shortest grass piece.  Adhere word bubble with stampin' dimensionals (I stacked one on top of the other since there were so many layers).  Don't forget to rhinestone the cute little guy's nose.

Now this card takes sparkle to a whole 'nother level. Get your sunglasses on for this STUNNING card. My friend at work, Cindy Egbert made this at another fab Stampin' Up demo Tracey Thompson's class.  This card is simple and fabulous. 


Day 10:
Golden Calm Christmas

 

 

 Stampin' Up supplies used:

Paper: baked brown sugar and very vanilla 8 1/2" x 11" card stock; champagne glimmer paper

Stamp set: Calm Christmas

Ink: baked brown sugar classic ink pad

embellishments: in color boutique details
ribbon: baked brown sugar 3/8" ruffle stretch trim
adhesives: snail adhesive, glue dots

 

Details:
Cut baked brown sugar at 5 1/2" on long end and fold. Cut very vanilla 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". Stamp dove and "peace on earth" with baked brown sugar.  Cut baked brown sugar piece at 3 3/4" x 3 3/4". Affix vanilla piece to the brown sugar square with snail adhesive.  Cut champagne glimmer paper at 5 1/4" x 4" and attach to base with snail adhesive.  Wrap ruffle stretch trim and tape at back. Affix square and boutique detail embellishment with glue dots. SIMPLE SPARKLY and FABULOUS!

The suspense is over, here's what was in yesterday's bag. Beautiful cards!  I made these at my downline Becky Liggin's stamp camp. Aren't they fabulous? The frosted finishes embellishments are the perfect embellishment for these fabulous cards.

Joyful Christmas Poinsettia Christmas cards

  

 

 Stampin' Up supplies used:

Paper: chocolate chip, old olive, cherry cobbler and whisper white 8 1/2" x 11" card stock; season of style designer series paper, Regals core'dinations card stock (cherry cobbler)

Stamp set: Joyful Christmas

Ink: cherry cobbler, old olive classic stampin' pads, white craft pad (or metallic encore silver pad if you don't have the old white pad)
Big Shot: pretty print and petals a plenty textured impressions embossing folders, apothecary accents framelit

embellishments: frosted finishes embellishments, basic rhinestones
ribbon: cherry cobbler baker's twine
adhesives: snail adhesive, stampin' dimensionals, glue dots

other: season of style washi tape, gingham garden washi tape, blender pens, stampin' sponge, stampin' sanding block

cherry cobbler base cut 5 1/2" on long end and fold
old olive 5 1/2 " x 3 3/4", emboss with petals a plenty embossing folder
red/white striped season of style 4 1/2" x 2 1/4"
whisper white rectangle: 2 1/2" x 1 1/2", stamp with saying and sponge cherry cobbler ink on edges
stamp whisper white onto cherry cobbler and trim with scissors. Embellish with frosted finishes using a glue dot. Wrap cherry cobbler around olive piece 3x and then tie in a bow. Layer all pieces with snail adhesive, except on rectangle square, use stampin' dimensionals.

Details:
Cut chocolate chip on long end at 5 1/2" and fold
Whisper white layer 4" x 4", emboss with pretty print embossing folder
Season of style striped paper: 4" x 1 1/2"
rectangles: cherry cobbler: 2 1/2" x 1 1/2", whisper white: 2 1/4" x 1 1/4"
stamp whisper white with "joyful" using cherry cobbler ink.  Stamp whisper white onto cherry cobbler for poinsettias and old olive with leaves and cut with scissors. Layer white and striped piece using season of style washi tape where they meet. Layer the rest with snail adhesive except poinsettia using stampin' dimensionals.  Embellish flower with frosted finishes embellishment.

Details:
Cut cherry cobbler at 5 1/2" on long end and fold.  Cut old olive at 5 1/4" x 4". Cut whisper white at
5" x 3 3/4".  Cut cherry cobbler piece behind white rectangle using apothecary accents framelit, cut strip of cherry cobbler 5" x 1/2", cut striped piece 5" x 1"
Stamp large white piece with poinsettia stamp using cherry cobbler ink. Use cherry cobbler ink and blender pen to color the poinsettias.  Color center with old olive ink. Embellish one with basic rhinestone and one with frosted finishes embellishment.  Stamp "Joyful..." with cherry cobbler and layer onto apothecary accents piece then layer all pieces with snail adhesive.

Details:
Cut old olive piece at 5 1/2" on long end and fold.  Cut cherry cobbler core'dinations card stock piece at 5 1/4" x 4", emboss with pretty print embossing folder. Sand with stampin' sanding block.  Adhere gingham garden washi tape across cobbler piece.  Cut white rectangle at 3 1/4" x 3". Stamp with leaves and "joyful" using old olive and cherry cobbler ink.  Edge with washi tape, embellish with frosted finishes using a glue dot.  Layer all with snail adhesive.
