Stamping 101, which black ink pad?

This is a question I get a lot, so I'll demystify it today!  There are two ink black ink pads that we sell:

Basic Black Archival Ink Pad
I like to think of the Black Archival ink as the "Sharpie" of ink pads. It stamps crisp, full, bold and clean black images in jet-black fashion. You can stamp on many surfaces including photos with the permanent black ink. It is permanent, fast drying and acid free.  Bonus, it also comes in an Archival Grey color!

Coloring companions: Watercolor pencils, water based Stampin' Up makers (won't smear!)

Don'ts: Don't use it with alcohol markers

Tips: it will stain your photopolymer stamps (this won't damage them and they are easier to find when you drop them!)

Memento Ink Pad
This is a fast drying, dye based ink that is perfect to use with alcohol markers and blender pens. These will not stain the photopolymer stamps as much

Coloring companions: Stampin' Blends alcohol markers

Dont's: Don't use with the watercolor pencils or when you want a crisp, clean black image (it's a less bold black)

Neither of these ink pads are very expensive and they WILL serve you in different areas.
DO purchase the refill with the ink pads. These ink pads are alcohol based and they evaporate very fast. You don't want to be halfway through an epic project and run out of ink!
